Who we are
ARCOT is the Africa Regional Centre for Open, Distance and e-Learning in Technical and Vocational Education and Training. We sit inside a national ODeL centre rather than beside one, so the standards we publish are the standards we run ourselves.
The ODeL Standard
Institutions self-assess against every domain, gather evidence in a portfolio, and submit for peer review. Replace these clause titles with ARCOT's published wording before the site goes live.
Board-approved ODeL policy, a named centre, budget lines and a delegated decision path.
Orientation, tutoring, technical helpdesk and turnaround commitments learners can hold you to.
LMS capacity, uptime, backup, bandwidth and device access measured against enrolment.
CBET alignment, learning outcomes mapped to occupational standards, accessible design.
Certified ODeL trainers, workload models that count online facilitation, CPD records.
Assessment security, moderation, consistency checking and a scheduled internal audit cycle.
